Careba Salmon has been sentenced to three months in prison at hard labour for her role in an extortion ring that targeted business operators in central Jamaica.
Salmon, 24, was sentenced when she appeared before the Manchester Parish Court today.
She pleaded guilty to six counts of conspiracy to extort on April 5.
Her Attorney, Joel Nelson, had told the court that Salmon was asked to edit the extortion letters based on her proficiency in the English Language. He said she was not part its conceptualisation.
He stated that when his client questioned the purpose of the letter, she was told hat she would be killed along with members of her family if she did not comply.
